Title: Book By Students at Boca Raton Middle School

Description:

In 2005, students and teachers at Boca Raton Middle School were one of ten schools that received a Gifted Challenge Grant awarded by the State of Florida, Department of Education.  These students participated in hands-on activities and research projects in an effort to learn more about the great city of Boca Raton.  They researched the historical figures that were instrumental in the city’s development and prosperity.  As a result of their research, they wrote and published, A Rat’s Mouth: A User’s Manual to Greater Boca Raton. 

In demonstrating that when grant funding disappears, the project can continue, these teachers and students have implemented an afterschool club that continues to investigate the history of the city of Boca Raton and develop curriculum activities related to their publication.
