Title: America's Safe Schools Week

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board of Palm Beach County adopt the proclamation proclaiming October 15 -21, 2006, as America's Safe Schools Week so that we may enthusiastically work together to make our schools safe, secure and peaceful places for learning, teaching and working, free of drugs, alcohol, weapons, and fear.

Description: Excellence in education is dependent on safe, secure and peaceful school settings.   It is the responsibility of all citizens to enhance the learning experiences of young people by helping to ensure fair and effective discipline, promote good citizenship, and generally make school safe and secure.
