Title: CP2-A/E Agreement for H.L. Johnson Elementary School Addition

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the award of an Architectural Consultant Agreement with Tercilla Courtemanche Architects, Inc. in the amount of $893,000. for the H.L. Johnson Elementary School Addition, Project No.400000002 and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents.

Description:

Architectural design services required to complete permitted design documents in accordance with Educational Specifications approved by the Board on September 20, 2006 for 41,697 GSF, 405 student station addition consisting of general and ESE classrooms and administration. The existing foodservice and dining area will be remodeled to accommodate additional dining/multipurpose area. A new food service will be constructed adjacent to the existing dining/multipurpose area. The total student stations will be increased from 595 to 1000.

Estimated Budget for Planning and Design:               $916,272.

Estimated Budget for Construction:                    $10,800,216.

Fee for Basic Services: $758,000

Funds Available For:
Extraordinary Civil and MEP Design Requirements: $25,000

Additional Services approved by the Owner: $75,000

Reimbursable Expenses approved by the Owner: $35,000

Total Contract Award: $893,000.

Twelve (12) firms responded to the RFP. Three (3) firms were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows: 

(1) Tercilla Courtemanche Architects, Inc. (Hispanic)

(2) Dow Howell Gilmore Associates, Inc.

(3) Song & Associates, Inc.

Minority Participation: 20%

Financial Impact:

The total financial impact is $916,272. The source of funds is the corresponding Capital Projects Budget. The District will provide the Professional Responsibility Insurance at a cost of $23,272. which is included in the total financial impact.
