Title: AC2-11th Amendment to the Agreement between SDPBC and the Health Care District Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Eleventh Amendment to the agreement with the Health Care District of Palm Beach County for the provision of a half-time nurse educator at the cost of $2,500 per month prorated as needed, effective December 14, 2006 through February 28, 2007, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to this partnership agreement.
Description: The purpose of the Eleventh Amendment to the Agreement between The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida and the Health Care District of Palm Beach County is to provide funding for a half-time nurse educator. The nurse educator position satisfies the goals and objectives of the five-year non-competing Cooperative Agreement, Improving the Health, Education, and Well-being of Young People Through Coordinated School Health Programs from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This funding is to be transferred from The School District of Palm Beach County to the Health Care District of Palm Beach County.
The Cooperative Agreement, approved by the School Board on November 19, 2002 and awarded to the District in February 2003, provides the nurse educator position for:
*researching best practices in Human Growth and Development curriculum, including HIV/AIDS content, to assist with updating Health and Science instruction;
*researching best practices in teaching strategies to assist with staff development offerings for Health and Science teachers.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds budget is $8,000, prorated as needed. The source of funds will be the School Health Program Grant allocated within the Department of K-12 Curriculum, Adult, and Community Education.
