Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $268,657.00 for Palm Springs Elementary School, Modernization Project #0651-8262, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

Palm Springs Elementary School – Modernization Project #0651-8262

This project modification contains the following items:

Item #1

  • CCD #4 (Item #1) in the amount of $60,000.00.
  • Description: Field supervision to hurricane remediation.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Construction supervision for hurricane remediation work.

  • CCD #4 (Item #2) in the amount of $8,600.00.
  • Description: Labor time associated with hurricane repair process.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Construction field labor for hurricane repair work.

  • CCD #4 (Item #3) in the amount of $5,000.00
  • Description: Construction carpentry allocated for hurricane repair work.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Construction field labor for hurricane repair work.

  • CCD #4 (Item #4) in the amount of $1,500.00.
  • Description: Material supplies for hurricane repairs
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Construction materials needed for hurricane damage.

  • Description: Damaged light fixture replacement
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Replacement of damaged light fixtures required at hurricane damaged areas.

  • Description: Marble window sill reinstallation.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Reinstallation of window sill required at repaired hurricane damaged areas.

  • Description: Cost for water damage assessment.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: The Consultant provided damage assessment and remediation services at hurricane damaged areas.

  • CCD #4 (Item #18) in the amount of $81,031.00
  • Description: Cost for remediation services
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Remediation serviced required for microbial cleaning at hurricane damaged areas.

  • CCD #4 (Item #19) in the amount of $15,000.00
  • Description: Cost for testing services
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Testing of damaged areas required to determine water infiltration caused by hurricane.

  • CCD #4 (Item #20) in the amount of $20,326.00
  • Description: Turner Construction general, liability, subgard, bond, & O&P.
  • Cause: Unforeseen Conditions.
  • Justification: Added volume of work to Turner Construction.

Financial Impact:

The Financial Impact to the Project’s Budget is $268,657.00.

 

The source of funds is the project budget as approved by the Board at the time of the Construction Contract Award.
