Title: Alpha Phi Alpha-Century of Leadership and Service

Description: December marks the 100th anniversary of the oldest Black Greek-lettered fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. Alpha Phi Alpha through the past 100 years has cultivated and inspired more than 200,000 African American men nationwide to become leaders of their communities and the nation. Among the most well-known are: the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, W.E.B. DuBois, Jesse Owens, Cornel West, Andrew Young, and David Dinkins. A number of Alpha Men have made large impacts in the Palm Beach County community including Dr. Arthur Anderson, Commissioner Ike Robinson, and Judge Edward Rogers.  Within the School District there are also a number of principals, assistant principals and teachers that are members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Some of the national programs of the fraternity include "Go to High School, Go to College," "Project Alpha," and "A Voteless People is a Hopeless People."  The local "Men of Tomorrow" program has helped high school males stay in school, become men, perform community service and go on to college.
