Title: Recommendation: Description: This student has been residentially placed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). The district pays only educational costs. Due to the severity of this student's needs, the IEP team agreed the student could be educated in the facility chosen by DCF. The student continues to require extensive educational and therapeutic services. This confirming contract is presented to the Board due to the time needed to secure a bed for the student at the receiving facility. Prior to entering the residential facility on December 26, 2006, the student had been attending an ESE Program in the Palm Beach County school district. The student's aggressive behaviors have escalated to the point that they are injurious to self, other students, and district staff. The student has been appropriately identified as a student with disabilities by the School District of Palm Beach County in compliance with state and local policies and regulations. The district will pay the educational costs for those days the student is physically present and in attendance at the residential facility. The cost for educational services is $118.57 a day for up to 186 school days which include the remaining 118 regular school days and 68 days of extended school year for 2006-2007. The total cost to the school District will not exceed $22,054.02. The total estimated FTE to be earned by this student during the FY07 school year will be $21,344. The cooperative agreement is in compliance with State Board Rule 6A.6-0361, "Special Programs Contractual Agreements with Non-Public Schools."
