Title: PM5 Middle School 03-NN/Jupiter Farms Educational Specs

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for Middle School 03-NN/Jupiter Farms Area and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

1. The new 03-NN Middle School is scheduled to commence 2007 and be completed by 2010 according to the proposed FY 2007-11 Five-Year Plan. 

2. The Educational Specification for 03-NN Middle School is consistent with the Class Size Reduction (CSR) Facility Lists and CSR generic Educational Specification approved by the Board on October 18, 2006.

3. The initial FISH Capacity of this school design will be 913 and the ”Program Capacity” of this school design will be for 750 students grades 5‑8.  The use of the “Program Capacity” for the construction of the school is consistent with the Charter School District Waiver granted by the Florida Board of Education on January 21, 2003.

4. The Educational Specification reflects the use of academic houses to enable implementation of the “school-within-a-school” concepts.

5. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Area Superintendent.

Financial Impact:

Financial impact will be determined when each construction contract is negotiated.
