Title: PM6 Educational Specification for Elementary School 06-D Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for construction of the new Elementary School 06-D (West Palm Beach Area), and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.
Description:
- The construction of new Elementary School 06-D is scheduled to commence 2008 and be completed by 2009 according to the Board-adopted FY 2007-2011 Five-Year Plan.
- The Educational Specification for Elementary School 06-D is consistent with the Class Size Reduction (CSR) Facility Lists and CSR generic educational specification approved by the Board on October 18, 2006.
- The “CSR” FISH Capacity of this school design will be 960 and the ”Program Capacity” of this school design will be for 800 students grades Kindergarten to 5. The use of the “Program Capacity” for the construction of the school is consistent with the Charter School District Waiver granted by the Florida Board of Education on January 21, 2003.
- Two Pre-K classrooms have been added to the facility list.
- The Educational Specification includes ten (10) additional future Resource Rooms for program needs for the anticipated population growth of the school.
- The Educational Specification reflects the use of grade level grouping to enable implementation of the “school-within-a-school” concepts.
- The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Area Superintendent.
Financial Impact:
Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
