Special Meeting/Workshop - No Division Assigned

Title: The Power of T.E.N

Description:

Last January, The Department of Student Intervention Services, presented a Board Workshop entitled, “The State of the Station” which offered a summary of the past, present, and future of The Education Network, (T.E.N.).

On January 10, 2007, we will bring the Board an update on the recently funded capital projects, including the Digital Repository, Infrastructure Development, Technology Utilization Center, and Distance Learning initiatives.

With the infusion of capital funding, and the professional broadcast expertise of our consultants and new staff members,  substantial  progress has been made in fulfilling the “future” we envisioned in last year’s Board Workshop.

We are well on our way towards completing tower transmission capabilities that will fully digitize and expand our three current channels to fifteen channels.  These channels are dedicated to specialized programming including Elementary and Secondary Science, Character Education, Health/Wellness, the Arts, Pre-K, and Staff Development offerings.

Also highlighted in this workshop will be interdepartmental and community collaborations, support for AAA schools, and details on our News Cut-Ins, (set to air on January 15), as well as our PSA’s for Black History month.  Board members will see a demonstration of the interactive capabilities for staff development and have an opportunity to peruse our newly outfitted remote truck.
