Title: P2 Approve agreement with Motorola Security Systems

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the comprehensive maintenance purchase/service agreement by Motorola in the not-to-exceed amount of $1,750,000 for a three year period.

Description:

P2   Approve a comprehensive sole source agreement to

        allow the District to purchase Motorola Security

        System products and services.

·      The Motorola Security Systems (including MOSCAD and INTRAC) line of products is the backbone of the District’s Intrusion Alarm System.  The system is installed in all District sites and reports to a Central Command Center that controls and monitors each District site location.

·        Motorola is the sole manufacturer and provider of these products and its proprietary software.

·       Motorola will provide the District all hardware, software, goods and services to include engineering services, software and hardware support, equipment, parts, repair, training, updates/upgrades and installation for Motorola’s Security System product line including SCADA Systems (MOSCAD and INTRAC).

·         Motorola is offering the District an hourly labor rate of $150.00 versus a commercial rate of $230.00.

·        Motorola is offering the District a 15% discount for parts and equipment and a 7% discount for software and hardware.

·       The rates and discounts offered from Motorola are effective for a three year period.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District budget is estimated at $1,750,000 over three years.  The source of funds is the School Police Department budget.
