Title: PM1 Educational Specification for Seminole Trails

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for the addition to Seminole Trails Elementary.

Description:

1. The addition to Seminole Trails Elementary School is scheduled for construction to commence in 2007 and be completed by 2009 according to the Board-adopted FY 2007-11 Five-Year Plan.

2. The Educational Specification for Seminole Trails Elementary is consistent with the Class Size Reduction (CSR) Facility Lists and CSR generic educational specification approved by the Board on October 18, 2006.

3. The FISH Capacity of this school design will be 1,078 for grades PreK to 5 and the ”Program Capacity” of this school design will be for 920 students grades K to 5.  The use of the “Program Capacity” for the construction of the school is consistent with the Charter School District Waiver granted by the Florida Board of Education on January 21, 2003. 

4. The classroom addition along with support spaces will accommodate existing Title I, ESE PreK, ESE and ESOL program needs.

5. The classroom addition shall be designed in compliance with the District’s Inclusion Plan.

6. The existing facilities will be analyzed by the project architect to determine appropriate usage of the site and buildings for necessary renovations and remodeling to meet SREF size standards, ADA requirements and other code issues.

7. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Principal.

Financial Impact:

Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
