Kaleidoscope awarded a total of $2500 in prize money to the winning schools and cultural organizations. Students worked for months with local cultural groups to learn about a specific culture and create an authentic representation of that culture in the form of a “village” they built onsite at the event. There were several categories in which schools and cultural groups competed for prize money:
Best Overall Village – PUERTO RICO
Created by: Okeeheelee Middle School and the Puerto Rican Organization for Cultural Enhancement and Reaffirmation (PROCER) with Aromas de Puerto Rico
Award: $500 to the winning school / $300 to the cultural organization
Best Educational Environment – GERMANY
Created by: Palm Beach Gardens Elementary School and The American German Club
Award: $250 to the winning school / $175 to the cultural organization
Most Creative/Authentic Representation of Culture – INDIA Created by: Suncoast High School and Palm Beach India Association
Award: $250 to the winning school / $175 to the cultural organization
Best First-Time Participant – AUSTRALIA Created by: Lake Worth Middle School with Northwood University and the Palm Beach Zoo
Award: $250 to the winning school / $175 to the cultural organization
Best Partnership – TBA
