Title: Charter District Extension

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the request to extend our Charter District status from July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2008.

Description:

The School District of Palm Beach County was granted Charter District Status on January 21, 2003.  Subsequent to that status, we received an extension by the State Board of Education, effective January 23, 2006 to July 1, 2007. 

We are seeking to be granted an appeal for another extension from July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2008.

According to Florida Statute s.1003.62(7), our status will sunset on July 1, 2007.  We believe that this extension can be granted under Florida Statutes s.1003.62(7). 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact will be determined by the implementation of specific charters.
