Title: First Amendment to Agreement Between the School Board of PB County and Riviera Beach Maritime Academ Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board reject the First Amendment to modify the Riviera Beach Maritime Charter School Agreement with the School Board.
Description: The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida (“School Board”) and the Riviera Beach Maritime Academy, (“Charter School”) entered into an Agreement on April 19, 2006.
On November 3, 2006, the School Board received written correspondence from the Charter School requesting to partner (dual enrollment) with any high school in Palm Beach County for the purpose of sharing students, in order to allow access to their very unique Marine Trade Program.
Original Contract is attached for your review (previously approved April 19, 2006).
Financial Impact:
The School District of Palm Beach County will need to set aside FTE dollars for a projection of 30 dual enrollment students for the second semester of fiscal year 2006-07 in the amount of $45,615, net of 5% administrative fee of $2,401. Riviera Beach Maritime is projecting dual enrollment for next fiscal year 2007-08 for a total of 50 dual enrollments students with an approximate amount of $152,148, net of 5% administrative fee of $8,008.
