Title: P1 Approve renewal for 03C-005FJZ RFP for Relocatable Modular Classroom and

Recommendation:

Based on satisfactory performance during the past contract

period, it is recommended that the RFP for RELOCATABLE

MODULAR CLASSROOM AND NON-INSTRUCTIONAL

BUILDINGS be approved with Royal Concrete Concepts for the

period May 13, 2007 through May 12, 2008.

Description:

P1  Approve renewal for 03C-005FJZ RFP for Relocatable

       Modular Classroom and Non-Instructional Buildings

 

·         Request for Proposal No. 03C-005FJ was awarded by Board action on March 12, 2003, to Royal Concrete Concepts for three years from March 13, 2003 through March 12, 2006 with the option to renew for two addi­tional one-year periods.

 

·         By Board action on April 20, 2005, the estimated expenditure was increased by $10,500,000.

 

·         By Board action on June 29, 2005, the estimated expenditure was increased by $20,000,000.

 

·         A contract extension was exercised for the period of March 13, 2006 through May 12, 2006.

 

·         The first option to renew was exercised for the period May 13, 2006 through May 12, 2007

 

·         The second and final option to renew will be exercised for the period of May 13, 2007 through May 12, 2008.

 

·         Royal Concrete Concepts has agreed to honor terms, conditions and pricing as amended for the forthcoming contract period.  The specifications of the modular units are specified in Royal Concrete’s proposals.  The proposed amendment to the Contract requires additions to the specifications of the modules.  The purpose of these additional requirements is to allow the modules to closely match the prototype classrooms approved by the Board. 

 

·         Services to be provided include purchase and/or lease of re-locatable, modular classroom and non-instructional buildings.  Vendor will be responsible for delivery, assembly, installation and relocation of modular units.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Capital budget is estimated at $15,000,000.  The source of funds is the Maintenance and Plant Operations budget.
