Title: CP-1 AE Agreement for Roosevelt Middle School Addition Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board revise the project budget to $8,397,258 and approve an Agreement for Architectural Design Services with. Howard and Associates, Inc., in the amount of $510,255. and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for the Roosevelt Middle School Addition, Project No. 400000003.
Description: Architectural design services required for the development of permitted design documents necessary to construct a 30,569 GSF, 352 student stations addition, consisting of general classrooms and administrative spaces. Student stations will be increased from 1,272 to 1,584, giving the school a Program Capacity of 1,200 students as per the Educational Specifications approved by the Board September 20, 2006.
Estimated Budget for Planning and Design: $292,880.
Estimated Budget for Construction: $6,521,189.
Fee for Basic Services: $384,950.
Civil Engineering: $43,350.
Landscape Design: $15,400.
Funds Available For:
Additional Services: $44,370.
Reimbursable Expenses: $22,185.
Total Contract Award: $510,255.
Five (5) firms responded to the RFP of which three (3) were shortlisted. The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows:
(1) Howard and Associates, Inc. (African-American)
(2) Dow Howell Gilmore Associates
(3) Acai Associates, Inc. (Hispanic)
Minority Sub-Consultant Participation: 17.4%
Financial Impact:
The financial impact is an increase of $3,167,258 to the project budget and a commitment of $524,817. (which includes the design contract of $510,255 and the District provided Professional Responsibility Insurance of $14,562.) The source of the additional funds is the FY 2007 Restricted Reserve.
