Title: Recommendation: I recommend that the School Board approve an amendment to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with CTA to change the date (from the starting date of the Voluntary Transfer Period to the first employee workday in April) by which employees must submit an application to be considered for a Job Sharing arrangement for the following school year. Description: § Current contract language requires that an application for a Job Sharing arrangement for the following school year be submitted on or before the first day of the Voluntary Transfer Period. § The first day of the Voluntary Transfer Period was amended on March 15, 2006 to be the first teacher working day of the second semester. This change automatically moved the application deadline to apply for a Job Sharing arrangement also to the first teacher working day of the second semester. § The parties agree that this deadline is too early in the school year and have tentatively agreed, pending school Board approval, to amend the contract to make the first employee workday in April as the deadline by which applications must be submitted for a Job Sharing arrangement for the following school year. § CTA has agreed to this amendment by signing an MOU that changes this date to the first employee workday in April.
