Title: G2-Bank of America Finding Fluency Grant Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Bank of America “Finding Fluency” grant in the amount of $25,000, effective March 22, 2007 through March 21, 2008, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and contracts related to the grant which are required for implementation of grant activities.
Description:
§ The Education Foundation, on behalf of the Department of After School Programming, is the recipient of a grant of $25,000 from Bank of America.
§ The grant is for the purpose of funding instructional materials, equipment, and supplies and to provide staff to support the development of fluency in School Age Child Care programs at Egret Lake Elementary and Galaxy Elementary.
§ The grant impact will be measured as follows:
o Students enrolled in targeted after-school programs will have increased opportunities for interacting with a variety of texts in after-school settings.
o Students enrolled in targeted after-school programs will develop increased desire to read independently.
o Student will demonstrate increased reading fluency levels.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the Special Revenue-Other Funds Budget is an increase of $25,000. The funds will be allocated to the Department of After School Programming (9012) under the Division of Safety and Learning Environment.
