Title: PL1 - Boynton - Lyons Plat approval which includes new elementary school 03Z site.

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve Boynton-Lyons Plat which includes the site for new elementary school 03Z and a potential middle school and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to sign all necessary documents.

Description:

  • On June 27, 2002, a school concurrency approval request for 1500 single family units was submitted to the School District by GL Homes.  At that time GL Homes / Boynton Beach Associates XVIII, LLP agreed to an outright land donation of 33 acres to the School Board for school construction.  The property is adjacent to a 50 acre park site.

 

  • On   May 19, 2004, the School Board approved the acceptance of a dedication of fee simple title to the 33 acres.

 

  • Boynton Beach Associates XVIII, LLLP, an affiliate of GL Homes of Florida is the developer of Canyon Lakes residential development and Canyons Town Center Traditional Market Place Development (TMD).

 

  • The Board of County Commissioner approved the Canyons Town Center Traditional Market Place Development (TMD) consisting of approximately 85 acres which contains the 33 acres school site.

 

  • A condition of that approval is for the applicant to plat the site.

 

  • The plat was prepared by GL Homes of Florida and reviewed by the County.

 

  • The plat was also reviewed by School District staff and is in conformance with applicable requirements.

 

  • The School District is currently building new elementary school 03Z on the subject property.
