Title: PM1 Northboro Elementary Educational Specification Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for the modernization of Northboro Elementary School and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.
Description:
- The construction of Northboro Elementary School is scheduled to commence SY 2007-08 and be completed by SY 2009-10 according to the FY 2007-11 Five-Year Plan. This project is required in order to comply with school concurrency requirements, to eliminate old portables and reduce class size.
- The Educational Specification for Northboro Elementary School is consistent with the Class Size Reduction (CSR) Facility Lists and CSR generic educational specification approved by the Board on October 18, 2006.
- The FISH Capacity of this school design will be 952 and the ”Program Capacity” of this school design will be for 952 students grades Pre-Kindergarten to 6. The use of the “Program Capacity” for the construction of the school is consistent with the Charter School District Waiver granted by the Florida Board of Education on January 21, 2003.
- The Educational Specification includes additional instructional spaces to support the needs of the ESE, ESOL and Montessori programs serving the students in the surrounding area.
- This modernization project shall be designed in compliance with the School District’s Inclusion Plan.
- For this project two (2) buildings (Bldg. 3, 7) will remain on the site. The existing facilities will be analyzed by the project architect to determine appropriate usage of the site and buildings, for necessary renovations to include a prototype clinic, expansion of dining and remodeling to meet SREF size standards, ADA requirements and other code issues.
- The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Principal.
Financial Impact:
Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
