Title: PM6 BAK Middle School of the Arts Project Modifications

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $278,622.00 for BAK Middle School of the Arts, Auditorium Project #2511-8272, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

This project modification contains the following item:

• CCD #1 in the amount of $278,622.00.
• Description:  Add two art galleries in the auditorium lobby.
• Cause:  School District Requested
• Justification:  The foundation for Bak Middle School of the Arts and the school believe it is important to have a prominent area in the school, accessible to both students and visitors, to display student artwork.  Similar gallery space exists at Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and staff would recommend including similar gallery space in any future secondary school that is designated as a "school of the arts". 

Financial Impact:

The MSOA Foundation provided $100,000 and the balance ($178,662) is funded from the project budget.
