Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve James Leary’s suspension without pay for three (3) workdays on March 29, 2007, March 30, 2007 and April 10, 2007.

Description:

On or about November 22, 2005, you became the subject of a Professional Standards investigation based upon the allegation that you exerted unnecessary physical force on a student by grabbing a student’s arm in an attempt to snatch a piece of paper from the student.  Furthermore, your unnecessary physical force injured the student’s arm causing redness and discomfort to the student in violation of the following:  The Code of Ethics and the Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida and The School District of Palm Beach County, School Board Policies 1.013 and 3.27.

Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact to the school District.
