Title: The First Tee National School Program Description: The First Tee is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in St. Augustine, FL at the World Golf Village, home of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Its mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has introduced the game of golf and its values to over 1.5 million participants and students in 47 states and five countries - Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Singapore.
The focus of The First Tee National School Program is to establish a lifelong interest in golf by engaging children in a structured golf curriculum that promotes character development through an introduction to The First Tee Nine Core Values during physical education classes. The Honda Classic and the PGA of America are jointly funding the local introduction of this program in 50 area schools over the next three years. The program will introduce the game of golf to 35,000 diverse students within the School District of Palm Beach County.
