Title: Interlocal Agreement Between the Board of County Commissioners and the School Board Concerning the P

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the Interlocal Agreement between the Board of County Commissioners and the School Board concerning the payment of overtime for school employees working at hurricane shelters.

Description:

• Our schools are used as hurricane shelters.
• The Red Cross reimburses the School District for food and supplies used to operate shelters, and for straight time paid for maintenance workers, food services workers, and a facility coordinator.
• The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners recognizes that the Red Cross reimbursement does not cover all labor costs incurred by the School District to operate these shelters; such as, police coverage, and the additional half-time to pay all employees the one and a half overtime rate required by our School District Bargaining Unit Contracts.
• In summary, this Interlocal Agreement fills the void left by the Red Cross Contract.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the School District.
