Title: Ten Year Renewal Charter for G-Star SOA Charter School

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the ten (10) year Renewal Charter for G-Star.

Description:

Pursuant to Florida Statute 1002.33(6)(g), the terms and conditions for the operation of the charter school shall be set forth by the district and the applicant in a written contractual agreement called a charter.

The Charter School Renewal Committee determined G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Television ("G-Star") is in compliance with the current charter.

The new Charter for G-Star was agreed upon by all parties.  The Charter has been submitted and reviewed by the appropriate District staff.

The Charter will become effective upon signing by both parties, and shall cover a term of ten (10) years commencing July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2017, except as provided in the Charter.

Due to the large number of pages, a copy of the Charter is on file in the Board Office for review.

G-Star serves grades 9-12.

Financial Impact:
Projected FTE for FY 2007-08 is approximate $4,617,443 net of the five (5%) percent administrative fee with a projected enrollment of 700 students.
