Title: AC2-Agreement with Discover Palm Beach County, Inc., and ARAMARK, Inc.

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Agreement with Discovery Palm Beach County, Inc., and ARAMARK and sign all the necessary documents.

Description:

• Discover Palm Beach County, Inc. is the managing corporation for the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
• On May 11 and 12, 2006, the School District will sponsor the 5^th Annual Conference on Single School Culture^©.
• This conference will feature nationally known speakers, including, Dr. Rick Stiggins, Founder of the Assessment Training Institute, Inc.; Dr. Jeff Howard, President of the Efficacy Institute; Dr. Randy Sprick, Director of Teaching Strategies, Inc.; Marcus Conyers, international author, keynote speaker and learning consultant; and Rick DuFour, one of the nation’s foremost authorities on applying the principles of Professional Learning Communities in the real world of schools.
• The registration fees collected, as well as the staff development allocation from NCLB/Federal Programs, Title 1, will cover the cost of this conference.
• This conference is a national conference with participants in attendance from all over the country.
• The anticipated attendance is 1300.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is $150,000 to the Department of Safe Schools/Safe Schools Institute budget.  There is no financial impact to the Operating Budget.
