Title: PM1 Project Modifications for H.L. Watkins Middle

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board ratify Project Modifications in the amount of $141,043.82 for H.L. Watkins Middle School, Modernization Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

H.L. Watkins Middle School – Modernization Project #0121-8263 

 

This project modification contains the following item:

 

  • CCD #2 in the amount of $141,043.82.
  • Description: Perform modifications to site to accommodate installation of ten (10) portables.  This item does not include the cost of purchasing and installing the modulars which is covered under a separate contract. 
  • Cause:  School District Requested.
  • Justification:  Due to class size reduction and program needs, the addition of ten (10) portables required modifications to site work including modifications to retention areas and drainage.  The school was designed prior to class size reduction, therefor additional classrooms were required.  The old media center is too far from the other buildings on campus to provide a safe campus environment.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $141,043.82.

 

The source of funds is the Portable Budget.  The Portable Budget is also funding the cost of purchasing and installing the modulars which is not a part of this Board action.
