Title: T1 PALM TRAN TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board increase the requested expenditure for student transportation provided by Palm Tran.

Description:

• The School Board has utilized Palm Tran since July 6, 1999, for student transportation.
• The Agreement allows for students eligible for transportation to be transported on Palm Tran buses.
• The Agreement allows for students, district-wide, who are accepted for admission to the choice programs to have access to public transportation to and from school.
• The increase is because of an increase in ridership for students in the choice programs and charter schools. 
• Original expenditures were budgeted at $377,000; an additional $143,000 is needed to provide services until the end of FY2006.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact will be to the general operating budget of Transportation in the amount of $143,000.
