Title: CP2 A/E Agmnt for Pre-K Classroom Additions

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the award of an Architectural Consultant Agreement with Brown & Brown Architect, Inc. in the amount of $345,000. and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all required documents for Pre-K Classroom Additions.

Description:

Architectural Design Services required for development of completed design documents for construction of Pre-K Classrooms at seven (7) schools to achieve class size reduction.  A Pre-K classroom addition with related play facilities will be constructed at seven schools:

Benoist Farms ES, Project No. 2751-8384; Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune ES, Project No. 2491-8384; Indian Pines Es, Project No. 1861-8384; South Olive ES, Project No. 0572-8384; Cholee Lake ES, Project No. 2761-8384; Gove ES, Project No. 1241-8384 and North Grade ES, Project No. 0681-8384.

Approved Budget for Planning and Design:                   

$335,000.

Approved Budget for Construction:                          $5,280,000.

Fee for Basic Service: $300,000. (5.7% Approved Budget for Construction)

Funds Available For:
Additional Services: $30,000.

Reimbursables.: $15,000.
Total Contract Award: $345,000.

Seven (7) firms responded to the RFP and three (3) were shortlisted.  The final ranking of the Selection Committee is as follows:

(1) Brown & Brown Architect, Inc. (Hispanic)

(2) Acai Associates, Inc. (Hispanic)

(3) Saltz Michelson Architects

Financial Impact:

The financial impact is $357,600. The source of funds is the corresponding Capital Projects Budget. The District will provide the Professional Responsibility Insurance at a cost of $12,600.
