Title: CLS1- 2006-2007 Interinstitutional Articulation Agreement

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Interinstitutional Articulation Agreement with Palm Beach Community College and Florida Atlantic University for the 2006-2007 school year.

Description:

This agreement is submitted in accordance with Florida Statute 1007.235,  which requires approval by all parties prior to the start of high school registration for the fall term.  It is being presented for approval to the Board of Trustees of Palm Beach Community College on March 14, 2006, and is pending approval by Florida Atlantic University.

Summary of Revisions:

• Revised committee member roster
• Revised Tech Prep-Career Academy Articulation Agreement between the School District of Palm Beach County and Palm Beach Community College
• Revised table detailing the Committee's response to reducing the incidence of postsecondary remediation in math, reading, and writing for first-time enrolled recent high school students
• Revised Teacher Prep table, including the alternative certification program as another mechanism to assist non-education trained professionals become teacher certified
• Inclusion of procedures that will apply to dual-enrolled students with disabilities
• Inclusion of "Dual Enrollment Guidelines Taught on High School Campuses"
  

Due to the large volume of pages in this agreement, a copy has been placed in the Board Minutes Office. 

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the FY2007 General Budget is $375,000 for the purchase of dual enrollment instructional materials.  The source of funds is the Instructional Materials budget.
