Title: PD3-Out-Of-Field Teachers Survey 3 Second Semester Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve the attached list of out-of-field teachers for Survey 3 of the 2005/2006 school year to serve one or more classes out of their fields of certification in compliance with State of Florida Board of Education Administrative Rule 6A-1.0503.
Description: Florida Statute 1012.42 gives each district school board the authority to allow teachers to teach out-of-field. Such assignments typically are made to provide students a comprehensive program of instruction. Priority consideration is granted to teachers who have demonstrated subject matter competency through prior teaching experience. The District provides support for out-of-field teachers through in-service opportunities to develop instructional competencies required for the assigned duties. Partnerships have been established with colleges and universities for required coursework and exam preparation. Teachers teaching in a subject area(s) not covered by their current certification are required to sign Out-of-Field Agreements which will permit continued employment on the condition that they obtain appropriate in-field certification within a specified time frame.
