Title: CL2 PBCSD Health Services Plan for 2004-2006

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve the Palm Beach County 2004-2006 School Health Services Plan for 2004-2006.

Description:

• The purpose of the Plan is to assist school health coordinators and staff and the School Health Advisory Committee to evaluate and plan school health services programs; to assist the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE) to identify health needs of school-age children for their program planning; and to provide a basis for accountability for compliance with legislative requirements for the School Health Program.
• The School Health Services Plan is mandated by the School Health Services Act, s.381.0056, F.S.  The law requires that this Plan be collaboratively developed by the county health department and the local school district.  A complete Plan was submitted by the county health department to the Department of Supplemental Educational Services for signature on December 8, 2004.
• The School Health Services Plan is a two-year Plan designed to facilitate the establishment of local strategies that implement activities mandated by law to improve the health of Florida's students and improve their chances for success in school.
• The format of this document includes two sections:  1) School Health Services Plan for 2004-2006; and 2) Staffing/Budget Plan for 2004-2006.
• Due to the size of the document, the Plan is on file in the Board Office for review.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the School District.
