Title: AC2 Behavioral Health Services Cooperative Agreements

Recommendation:

I recommend that the School Board approve the Cooperative Agreements with the listed community agencies to provide behavioral health services for children and their families in schools, effective February 17, 2005 through June 30, 2005, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents related to these Agreements which are required for service provision.

Description:

The list represents providers who offer valuable support to address emotional or social barriers that may interfere with students’ academic achievement. The providers must meet specific background check requirements and program implementation guidelines. Cooperative Agreements are written for the following  agencies: Boca Raton Community Hospital (Social Worker); City of Pahokee (Creations, program funded by DJJ); Drug Abuse Foundation; Girls and Boys Town; Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition; Hugs for Kids; Mental Health Association; and the Office of the State Attorney, Fifteenth Judicial Court (Truancy Interdiction Program, funded by DJJ).  The Cooperative Agreements outline:

  • Program purpose;
  • Background check and insurance requirements;
  • Protocols for the agency representatives to follow at the schools;
  • Documentation, confidentiality, and follow up requirements;
  • Collaboration with the school based team at the school site; and access to student information.

 In addition, on December 8, 2004, Agenda Item 9A8, the Board approved Cooperative Agreements with CIRC and Hanley Hazelton.  Subsequent to  Board Approval, these agencies have changed their names to the following: CIRC became South County Mental Health Center and  Hanley Hazelton became Hanley.

Due to the size of the documents, the Agreements are on file in the Board Office for review.

Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact to the School District.
