The central component of the CSR Grant is the implementation of the Microsociety school reform model.
>Microsociety is a revolutionary school reform model that facilitates the application of student academic and social skills as citizens in a school society that is designed and created by students. In this microcosm, students will assume job functions and roles that apply and reinforce the academic concepts learned in school to "real life" situations and opportunities. Microsociety connects learning across subject areas and to the "real world" and will engage students in active learning experiences that develop academic, social and emotional skills.

The seven goals are to: 1) Improve student reading achievement, 2) Improve student writing achievement, 3) Improve student math achievement, 4) Improve student social competence, 5)Improve student attachment to school, 6) Improve student school behavior, and 7) Improve parent and community involvement.
>The goals and outcomes of the grant activities will be evaluated by statistically analyzing the results of FCAT and SRI scores, social competence assessment scores, attendance data, school discipline referrals, and parent and community member attendance logs. Microsociety, Inc. will analyze the data as part of a longitudinal evaluation.
>Two Microsociety nationally certified trainers will visit Village Academy to provide two professional development training sessions with the school staff, consisting of four total days of training. Additionally, Microsociety will provide Village Academy with a total of 8 days of off-site technical assistance in support of the CSR model.
>Consultant contract funds will be used to pay for on and off-site training and technical assistance, travel costs, curriculum library, longitudinal evaluation, and conference registration fees.
