Title: PM3 Project Modifications for H.L. Watkins Middle

Recommendation:
I recommend the School Board approve Project Modifications for the addition o f twenty-seven (27) consecutive calendar days, for H.L. Watkins Middle School, Modification Project, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

H.L. Watkins Middle Modernization Project #0121-8163

This project modification contains the following item:

• COPR #1 in the noncompensable addition of twenty-seven (27) consecutive calendar days.
• Description: Extend Phase 1 Substantial Completion date by an additional twenty-seven (27) days.  Revise the Substantial Completion date from December 15, 2004 to January 11, 2005.
• Cause:   Unforeseen Condition.
• Justification: During the months of August and September 2004, the District was subject to four hurricanes.  Hurricane Charley made landfall August 11, 2004, Hurricane Frances made landfall September 4, 2004, Hurricane Ivan made landfall September 10, 2004 and Hurricane Jeanne struck September 26, 2004.  CM has provided documentation to support a five (5) day request for Hurricane Charley;  nine (9) day delay due to Hurricane Frances; a  six (6) day delay for Hurricane Ivan; and a seven (7) day delay due to Hurricane Jeanne.  The lack of production is attributed to the loss of electrical power and manpower resulting from the hurricanes.  Total requested extension due to the hurricanes is twenty-seven (27) calendar days.

The financial impact to the Project's Budget is $0.00.
