The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida - Commit 2B Fit
Celebrating 10 Years Of Wellness
In the FY07, this initiative was introduced to the School District of Palm Beach County by its founders Elly Zanin and Michelle Schecht Smith and piloted in eight elementary schools. Since then the initiative has gained traction and momentum each year and has been implemented in 61 elementary schools. Each year ALL of our Commit 2B Fit schools have the opportunity to share their progress and success during the year.
Model Schools
In FY16 seven of our elementary schools went the extra mile as they documented their progress, provided benchmarks, thresholds and photos and submitted them as evidence of their success as a Commit 2B Fit Model School.
These seven schools demonstrated their commitment to their students and the importance of school based wellness because they infused nutrition and physical activity practices into the school day AND took the time to document and capture their results.
To acknowledge their extraordinary effort, each of these schools received a Commit 2B Fit plaque and schools that earned this achievement for the very first time also received a banner to display proudly on their campus.
