Comprehensive School Health Services

Comprehensive School Health Services, provided by special state funding, allows the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County to broaden the scope of the services available to meet the needs of the local community for low-income, high risk students. 

  • The Comprehensive Schools are:
    • Atlantic Community High
    • Glades Central Community High
    • Carver Community Middle School.
  • The goals of the program are:
    • Reduce risk taking behaviors that lead to teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
    • Prevent abuse of substances such as alcohol, tobacco and other drugs
    • Promote access to counseling and health services.
  • During the school year 2015-2016 there were 17,830 health room visits and more than 38,000 school health services provided. The return to class rate for these schools was 94%.

Full School Health Services 

Full School Health services, provided by special state funding, allows the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County to build collaborative relationships with school staff and community agencies and involve students as responsible partners in their care and encourage the role of parent/guardian.

  • Rams Health Clinic is the only School Based Health Clinic in Palm Beach County to provide these Full Health Services:
    • Comprehensive physical services
    • Onsite mental health services
    • Easy or immediate access to healthcare     
  • Rams is located in Palm Beach Lakes Community High School, and is a satellite clinic of the C.L. Brumback Clinics of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. 
  • Rams clinical services are provided by:
    • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
    • Staff assistant

Rams Health Clinic provided the following types of services to students:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and injury
  • Well-child exams
  • Management of chronic health conditions
  • Basic laboratory services
  • Medication prescription services
  • Mental health services and interventional counseling
  • Emergency dental care referral
