The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida - Physical Activity

Celebrating 10 Years Of Wellness

GoNoodle

Through the generous funding of the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, the School District of Palm Beach began using GoNoodle throughout many of our elementary schools.

GoNoodle is a physical activity program designed for K-5 classrooms with short interactive activities that the School District of Palm Beach County has provided teachers to get students moving. This program encourages desk-side movement which helps students achieve more by keeping them engaged and motivated throughout the day. To date, there are 69,000 schools, all 50 states, and 175 countries using this program.

Key Features:

  • Free. Any teacher, anywhere, can create a free GoNoodle account and start using movement activities right away.
  • Research-based Activities: Using exercise science and cutting-edge research, we’ve designed all of GoNoodle’s activities to be healthy for the body, engaging for the attention, and beneficial to the brain in specific ways.
  • Fast: Transition from listless to engaged in minutes. GoNoodle takes no time to setup, has content of a variety of lengths (from 1 minute to 20 minutes), and just requires you to press play.
  • Designed for Long-Term Engagement: GoNoodle makes earning minutes of healthy activity a game that your students play together. Motivate students to stay active. Each class chooses a Champ -- a virtual mascot -- who grows as the class earns the minutes needed to advance to the next level. Reward them for engagement by helping them grow their Champ.
  • Multiple Classes: For teachers who see multiple groups of students each day, GoNoodle can be easily set up so that each class has their own game progress, Champ, and rewards.

GoNoodle is designed for use in the average classroom. All a teacher needs is a computer, a broadband internet connection and a screen that all students can see such as a projector, interactive whiteboard, or a big monitor. Teachers then choose a game and walk students through introductions, warm-up routines, and the game itself.

There are many different options to choose from based on the amount of time available for activity. Available to choose from are a series of web-based videos, games, and activities. It is a great way to give students a quick burst of physical activity, which can help keep them focused throughout a long academic day. The site is meant to be used for physical activity in five- to 10-minute bursts, particularly during transition periods.

The benefits of physical fitness and relaxation on learning are well documented, and GoNoodle provides teachers with a fun, interactive way to get students moving.
