TITLE:           ASSOCIATE TEACHER SUBSTITUTE

 

PURPOSE: To provide job-embedded coursework, coaching, and classroom experience to enable aspiring educators who do not have a college degree to complete the credit hours necessary to earn a fully accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Education and official teaching certification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.        Associate’s degree or 60 hours of College Credit or in the last year of completion of an Associate’s degree.

2.        Enter into a qualified program to complete a degree from a College of Education.

3.        Signed agreement to work for four years as a teacher upon completion of the bachelor’s degree and certification program.

4.        Currently enrolled in a qualified program to complete a bachelor’s degree.

5.        Ability and desire to work with students, teachers, counselors, and administrators.

6.        Ability to work with students and parents.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

1.        Enrolls in and make satisfactory progress in a qualified bachelor’s degree program.

2.        Assists students with their seatwork.

3.        Facilitates small group instruction.

4.        Creates lesson plans.

5.        Checks papers and record grades.

6.        Alerts the appropriate school personnel about an individual student's needs for intervention and/or programming.

7.        Acts as a liaison between the school, parents, and students.

8.        Participates in staff development activities appropriate for assignment.

9.        Monitors room for student behavior, cleanliness, and safety.

10.      Establishes a relevant and inclusive learning environment for all students, including visual aids, bulletin boards, etc.

11.      Prepares material for lessons and follow-up instruction using manipulatives/technology/best practices.

 

Performance Effectiveness Criteria:

In addition to the employee being responsible for each of the performance responsibilities listed herein, annual progress may be assessed with respect to support and achievement of the District Strategic Plan and associated applicable scorecards.
