Re-Defining Good Taste!
Royal Palm Beach High School was selected as the fourth high school to receive the Reengineering Program. The renovated cafeteria successfully opened on August 15, 2016, resulting in a 17% increase in lunches served versus the prior year and a 10% increase in breakfast meals.
Palm Beach Central High School was selected as the fifth high school to receive the Reengineering Program which is scheduled to open on August 14, 2017. Harvard Jolly Architectural firm was retained to develop and draft the drawings for the construction bid. On April 5, 2017, the Board approved the construction bid to IBIS Construction. School Food Service, Program Management, IBIS, and Harvard Jolly have been working closely together to coordinate the project. Demolition began in June 2017.
To ensure the on-time completion of projects of this magnitude, two years of planning is required. John I. Leonard High School has been selected to be the sixth school to receive the program. The Board approved this project on December 14, 2016. The design process is underway.
The remodeling of our cafeteria into a 'Food Court' style has increased the number of students eating cafeteria meals, has increased the menu options for students, and has increased equity on our campus in that all students regardless of Free and Reduced Lunch status can eat at any of the restaurants.
