The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida - Health Fairs
One of the most exciting ways to reach individuals and promote Nutrition Education is through health fairs. The School Food Service Department hosted two health fairs during the 2016-2017 school year. The first one was at Orchard View Elementary School on December 1, 2016 and the 2nd one at Roosevelt Community Middle School on March 9, 2017.
Orchard View Elementary
“Fruits & Veggies… More Matters” was the focal point at Orchard View Elementary School’s health fair and the students enjoyed viewing the exciting health and wellness displays from local community partners and tasting delicious fresh fruits and vegetables!
Roosevelt Middle School
The health fair held at Roosevelt Community Middle School aligned with the messages from the National Nutrition Month campaign designed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This year’s theme “Put Your Best Fork Forward” encourages everyone to adopt eating and physical activity plans that are focused on consuming fewer calories, making informed food choices, and getting daily exercise in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and promote overall health.
School Sponsored Health Fairs
In addition to the two health fairs hosted by the Department, we participated in the following school-based health fairs:
- Tradewinds Middle School
- Cholee Lake Elementary
- Allamanda Elementary
- Heart & Sole Bash
