· The current SACC rate is $2.00 per hour per student, with a sibling rate of $1.50 per hour.
· Effective August 1, 2005, the School Age Child Care (SACC) sibling rate will increase from $1.50 per hour to $2.00 per hour.
· The total SACC population is approximately 16,793 students. Approximately 2,614 or 16% receive the current sibling rate.
· Program costs and salary levels have increased in the past four years since the last SACC rate increase on July 11, 2001.
· Increasing the sibling rate eliminates the need to increase the rate for all students.
· One base rate for SACC fees will:
o Simplify accounting procedures
o Simplify revenue payment from Family Central for families receiving subsidies
o Simplify and streamline the Memorandums of Understanding between Community Based Organizations and District-operated SACC programs in Beacon schools
o Eliminate the need for identifying and verifying siblings entering and exiting elementary schools, thus freeing the staff to have more time to interact with the students
· The SACC Advisory Committee, which is comprised of school principals, District administrators and SACC directors, will determine future SACC rate increases, limited to no more that five percent per year.
· This fee increase and procedures for future increases was recommended and approved by the SACC Advisory Committee.
