Title: Recommendation: I recommend that the School Board approve the partnership agreement between the School District of Palm Beach County and Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches, Inc., effective April 21, 2005, through June 30, 2010, and authorize the Superintendent or designee to sign all documents and amendments related to the agreements which are required for implementation. Description: 4 The School District will partner with Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, in conjunction with local K-12 schools. Students in the Junior Achievement program will be under the supervision and guidance of professionally trained consultants and the classroom teacher. 4 To be eligible for participation, a school must identify teachers from a variety of courses, who want to participate, and elect to implement the Junior Achievement component to augment economic education. 4 The partnership will provide the following: o Junior Achievement will provide classroom teachers with program kits, software programs, a textbook or a workbook for each student, and ancillary materials. o Schools are encouraged to establish student enterprises, which will set up checking accounts through Junior Achievement’s corporate banking sponsors, where appropriate. o The partnership promotes business practices and economic decision-making with student-run companies that provide hands-on experience for the students.
