Approve the sale of Off-Adoption Surplus Textbooks to Follett Educational Services for a revenue payment of $139,000.
· School Board Policy 7.12 provides for the disposal of instructional materials in accordance with State Board of Education Rule 6A-7.074, FAC.
· Offers were solicited from five textbook companies on March 16, 2005. The offer is for the sale of off-adoption social studies textbooks for middle and high schools. Successful vendor is required to purchase the total quantity of textbooks at each school.
· Five (5) responses were received. Follett Educational Services submitted the highest offer of $139,000.
· All money received from the sale of surplus instructional materials shall be appropriated for instructional materials.
· Follett Educational Services will pick up off-adoption materials from approximately 25 middle and high schools in June 2005. The remaining schools will have off-adoption books picked up in September 2005.
· The Instructional Materials Department also maintains a “give-away” program that is open to the general public. Off-adoption books are available for the general public to select on a first-come, first-served basis.
