Title: CL1 Cooperative Agreements with the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve this Cooperative Agreement with The Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches; The Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center of Boca Raton and the Coalition For Independent Living Options. The effective dates for these Cooperative Agreements are June 6, 2005 through July 30, 2005.
Description: These organizations provide a summer camp program for students with disabilities.
Certain students with disabilities who attend these camps are also eligible for Extended School Year (ESY) services according to their IEP's. These students are offered the opportunity to receive their ESY services at one of several schools in the district.
The purpose of these cooperative agreements is for the school district to provide ESY services to eligible students at the three campsites. Although the students will receive limited ESY services at the campsite, the program will assist students in their IEP goals. This will enable parents to send their children to camp, while at the same time ensure that essential academic services are received. All parents who select this program as an option instead of the school based ESY program are advised of and agree to the services provided.
The district will hire teachers and related services personnel to provide services in accordance with each student's ESY IEP. Progress will be documented on each student's ESY IEP at the end of the summer ESY program.
Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the School District is estimated at $5,000. These funds are currently allocated within the District Extended School Year budget allocation.
