Title: CL2 Continuation of Student Cooperative Agreements with Carlton Palms Educ

Recommendation:
I recommend that the School Board approve these continuing cooperative agreements with Carlton Palms Educational Center, Inc., to provide educational services to six students with a disability, as mandated by their Individual Education Plans.  The cost of these cooperative agreements is $136,600.  The effective dates of these cooperative agreements are July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006.

Description:

These students have been residentially placed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).  The District pays only the educational costs.

Due to the severity of these students' needs, the Individual Education Plan (IEP) committee agreed that these students could be educated in the facility chosen by DCF.  These students require extensive educational and therapeutic services for FY06 with an estimated stay of twelve months.

District staff will make on-site semi-annual visits to ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines.  Student progress will be documented on the IEP.

The total FTE earned by these students during the FY05 school year was $128,880.

These cooperative agreements are in compliance with State Board Rule 6A.6-0361 "Special programs for Contractual Arrangements with Non-Public Schools".

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District's general operating fund is $136,600.  The source of funds is the Exceptional Student Education Department Budget.
