Title: L1 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR BAK MIDDLE SCHOOL

Recommendation:
I recommend that the Board approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association (CTA).  As a result of a formal waiver request submitted by Bak Middle School of the Arts to the District’s Waiver Committee, the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association has agreed to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the School District to affect this waiver request for the 2004-2005 school year.

Description:

Highlights of the MOU and waiver include:

Ø       A waiver to Appendix B of the 2002-2005 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CTA and the School District to allow Bak Middle School to pay $20 per hour instead of $15 per hour to T-bargaining unit employees who are selected and agree to adjudicate student auditions to attend BAK Middle School for the 2005-2006 school year.

Ø       The funding for the higher hourly rate is provided through amendments to the Bak Middle School of the Arts’ 2004-2005 budget.

Ø       This waiver and MOU are extensions of waivers and MOUs agreed upon in previous school years.

Ø       The MOU is for the 2004-2005 school year.
