Title: PM1 Educational Specification for Indian Ridge School

Recommendation:

I recommend the School Board approve the Educational Specification for the new construction of Indian Ridge School, and authorize the Chairman and Superintendent to execute all related contract documents.

Description:

1.  Indian Ridge School is a public school that serves students throughout the Palm Beach County School District.  All Indian Ridge students are severely emotionally disturbed.  Services target the need for students to regain control, participate in the therapeutic process, and increase the benefits derived from schooling.  Assistance is provided through the IEP process, social skill development, medical intervention, group counseling and individual counseling.

2. The new construction of Indian Ridge is scheduled to commence 2005 and be completed by 2006.

3. The "CSR FISH Capacity" of this school design would be 253 for an enrollment of 105 students grades K-12.

4. The Educational Specification includes core and instructional spaces for use by the existing enrollment.

5. The Educational Specification was reviewed and approved by the Executive Director of ESE and the principal.

Financial Impact:
Financial impact will be determined when construction contract is negotiated.
