Title: P12 Approve Contract with Riverdeep

Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the contract with Riverdeep for Learning Village and authorize the Superintendent and Board Chairman to sign all necessary documents.

Description:

Approve the contract with Riverdeep for Learning Village, a computer-based curriculum mapping, database and alignment tool for use by classroom teachers through a district-wide single-access portal in the not-to-exceed amount of $1,492,642.

·      Riverdeep’s Learning Village (RLV) will provide teachers with a single point of access to tools and applications related to the delivery of instruction. These tools include:

·      This set of databases and suite of tools will enable the District to create and maintain a standardized curriculum throughout the District within an easy to use instructional framework as well as to align best practice plans of instruction with quality resources and learning activities.

·      Learning Village allows for the rapid deployment of proven instructional strategies directly to the classroom. This provides the District with the opportunity to make enhanced data-driven decisions that affect student achievement where it is most needed.

·      Learning Village will significantly improve the District’s ability to provide new teachers with the classroom tools and techniques that allow them to be successful in their new positions. This function addresses a critical need as teacher turnover continues to accelerate in coming years.

·      The Learning Village project will allow the District to incorporate planned improvements to our ability to provide enhanced on-line instructional curriculum, meaningful professional development, student assessment tools and reports, tools for communication and collaboration, and the integration of other District owned and planned tools, resources and applications.

·      Learning Village users are part of a nationwide RLV Exchange, a user group and consortium sharing best practices and actively exchanging ideas, resources and activities. Locally Palm Beach County will participate and share resources with Broward County, Miami-Dade County, and Duvall County school districts.

·      Riverdeep will provide full project management for the installation, configuration, and application integration as defined in the contract.

Financial Impact:
The financial impact to the District Budget is estimated at $1,492,642.  The source of funds is the Instructional Technology Department budget.
